Pensions Automatic Enrolment – Made Simple!

If you have got this far in the process of understanding Pensions Automatic Enrolment then you are going to take no persuading that it sounds daunting.

Just consider the multitude of jargon that surrounds it:

staging date, postponement, worker assessment, earnings assessment, eligible worker, non-eligible worker, entitled worker, opting out, opting in, re-enrolment, minimum contribution levels

The government, through The Pensions Regulator, is forcing employers to automatically enrol their employees into pension schemes into which both employee and employer contribute minimum amounts.

Once you are up and running with Auto Enrolment there is a periodic process, matching your employees pay periods, where employee’s earnings are assessed and pension contributions calculated. The results of that assessment and those calculations are fed into the payroll processing and the resulting pension contributions are paid over to an appointed pension scheme.
